Blepharoplasty

What is Blepharoplasty?

It is common with aging to develop loose skin around the eyes and have a tired looking appearance.

Blepharoplasty is a type of eyelid surgery, and is done to remove loose eyelid skin, reposition fat, and tighten the muscles of the eyelid.  This can be done with the upper lids, lower lids, or both.

Blepharoplasty Surgery

Blepharoplasty can be done with you awake under local anesthetic, or asleep under a general anesthetic.  An incision if made in the skin, usually in a crease or fold, and skin and muscle is removed and tightened.  The fat of the eyelid may be moved and repositioned as well.

Small stitches are used to sew the skin.  Bruising and swelling can be expected in the recovery period.
