Many women have breasts that are too large for their body frame, which can cause posture issues, neck and shoulder pain, and bra strap grooving.
Breast reduction can improve these symptoms and give a more youthful breast shape.
Surgery is done under general anesthetic. An incision is made around the nipple, as well as vertically down the breast, shaped like a lollipop. Generally this also requires a horizontal incision underneath the breast, with the final scar shaped like an anchor. Excess breast tissue and skin is removed, and dissolving stitches are placed.
After surgery a full time supportive bra is worn, and strenuous activity and lifting is avoided for 4 weeks.
